President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised the efforts of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) following the successful dismantling of a major drug syndicate and a multi-million-dollar narcotics production network operating in Nigeria.
According to the President, the operation led to the seizure of illicit drugs and chemicals worth over $360 million, alongside the arrest of both foreign and local collaborators involved in the criminal enterprise. The achievement marks a major step in Nigeria’s fight against illegal drug trafficking and organized crime.
President Tinubu stated that the successful crackdown sends a strong warning to criminal organizations and narco traffickers, reaffirming that Nigeria will not surrender its future to criminal networks threatening national security and youth development.
He further highlighted concerns about West Africa’s growing role as a major corridor in the global narcotics trade, warning that the trend poses a serious danger not only to national security but also to the future of young Nigerians.
“We must confront this danger with courage, coordination, and consistency,” the President emphasized.
The President also urged Nigerians to support law enforcement agencies by remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious activities in their communities to help combat illegal drug operations.
President Tinubu commended the NDLEA for its professionalism, bravery, and resilience, describing the war against illicit drugs as a fight for the soul, safety, and future of Nigeria.
As Nigeria strengthens efforts against drug trafficking, this latest success by the NDLEA reinforces the government’s commitment to protecting citizens and securing a safer future for generations to come.
