Teachers in Oyo State staged protests over increasing insecurity in schools after suspected gunmen killed a headmaster and a teacher during recent attacks linked to school abductions. The incident has sparked outrage among education workers, parents, and residents who fear for the safety of students and teachers across the state.

The protesters carried placards and demanded urgent government intervention to improve security around schools. They also called for the immediate rescue and safe return of kidnapped teachers, students, and other victims still in captivity.
According to reports, the attacks have created panic within local communities, forcing some parents to reconsider sending their children to school due to growing fears of kidnapping and violence. Teachers’ unions warned that continuous attacks on schools could negatively affect education and disrupt academic activities in the state.
Many protesters urged security agencies to strengthen surveillance in vulnerable communities and increase patrols around schools, especially in rural areas where attacks are becoming more common. They stressed that educators should not risk their lives simply for carrying out their duties.
The incident has once again raised national concerns over insecurity in Nigerian schools and the increasing threat posed by armed criminal groups targeting students and educational workers.
Residents and community leaders are now calling on both state and federal authorities to take decisive steps to prevent further attacks and restore confidence in the safety of schools across Oyo State.
